Our political system in the U.S. is a competitive popularity contest. And none of the candidates ever do what they promise, it's common knowledge! The battle between republicans and democrats has my head spinning sometimes.
Have you seen that commercial where there are a bunch of kids wearing half-donkey half-elephant symbols? If we just combined the democrats and Republicans to get something like demolicans or republicrats, and conjoined the best ideas from both parties, we would probably have a better collective government.
Personally though, I don't think either party's better. But I do think they may have their own pros and cons. And what about those political parties that no one pays attention to? Like Green Peace or something. Maybe one of their presidential candidates should win the '08 election. I wonder what would happen then.
